Blewzzy Award For Best Song Of The Year 2007

The title track "Just A Minute" was selected by blues critic Peter "Blewzzman" Lauro as the Best Song of 2007. "This is the latest CD by Jook Bourke. It features eleven new original contemporary acoustic blues songs. Bourke has focused again on the everyday events and things that give all of us the blues and at the same time uplift our spirits. The songs chronicle major disasters and mundane dilemma like whether to answer the phone or not. "Just A Minute" features his vocals, songwriting, fingerstyle and bottleneck acoustic guitar, and harmonica. There are a couple of crossover cuts, "Reach Out" and "Boca Raton" that broaden Bourke's typical acoustic blues style." Peter "Blewzzman" Lauro

Pick Hit For 2004

"My Mojo's Just To Weak" is a collection of original contemporary acoustic blues.  Blues music is not just about pain. It is also rich with humor and irony. The mainstay of this CD is humor. There are also plenty of lyrical twists and surprises.  Like Jook's first solo CD, this new release features his vocals, songwriting and fingerstyle guitar. There is a little more harmony vocals and a few more cuts with harmonica this time around. There is even a gospel feel to one of the tracks.

Contemporary Acoustic blues with a dash of humor, a dash of pain and a lot of life experience. This debut solo CD is a collections of songs built on the blues tradition with modern infuences. It features smooth soulful vocals, full of subtleties and rich textures that can pull you into the songs. The fingerpicking style guitar and bottleneck style of slide blend with the lyrics and melodies to create a rich full sound that belies the fact that the tracks are mostly a single guitar and vocal. The songs on this CD are a modern evolution of roots blues music blended with elements of jazz, country and folk music. "This Place Is Hot" was featured on FM Odyssey. The song "This Place Is Hot" ought to be the Florida state song, according to FM Odyssey Host Fred Migliori. Some have compared Jook's sound to Eric Clapton or Keb Mo.
